Welcome to Josie Pet Sits!
I am Josie, a recent college graduate and pet sitter in Salt Lake and I love animals! I have been a committed pet sitter for about 4 years and have loved getting to meet lots of sweet animals and their owners. I enjoy everything about pet sitting, from hanging out on the couch with a kitty on my lap to going on long walks with dogs. I studied Communication at the University of Utah and have found there are several aspects of pet sitting that overlap with the skills that I have learned during my degree. I always inform clients of any issues, make sure they are up to date on any concerns, and also take great photos to show how cute their pets are. Besides pet sitting, I enjoy crocheting, baking, cooking, watching TV, playing games, listening to music, going on picnics, and enjoying the sunshine!
I follow a general routine for each client and change things as needed depending on the needs of the individuals and their pets. Pet sitters are also all different, so here is some general information regarding the process and my own habits to give a better understanding of my routine:
- Meet the owners, pet, and house to gain familiarity with clients and the environment (if first time clients)
- I always stay at my clients’ house since I can’t have pets at my place and allows pets to remain comfortable in their familiar environment. See more about this on my FAQ page!
- Get information on:
- pet/house, pet’s schedule, ensure my schedule works with pet’s needs;
- how to enter house and where to leave keys if applicable;
- leaving and returning schedule for client
- Arrive on agreed upon day/time and tend to pets’ and house’s needs as requested
- Bring my own food to make/snack on during my stay
- I will not eat clients’ food unless specified that I am allowed to
- I aim to send pictures of pets at least once a day and check in with client with how things are going, informing about any issues that may have come up or questions I may have
- During the last day, I make an effort to clean up after myself and put anything back that might have shifted around and that pet needs are taken care of (they are fed their latest meal, dogs have been walked or have been let out, litter boxes are cleaned, etc.)
- Please let me know what you would like me to do with your sheets! See more on my Tips page!
I am very flexible and don’t mind doing “difficult” or “annoying” tasks, so don’t be afraid to ask! I will be sure to let clients know if something is not within my realm of possibility, but I want to make sure all pets and clients are as happy and as comfortable as they can be. As long as we communicate with each other, there will be no reason to worry! Looking forward to meeting you soon! Schedule a free Home Meeting today!
